Put Jesus in the Equation

2/13/01 - How many of you have had to untangle a fully tangled up ball of twine? Well, one thing you can do if the material is a synthetic is perhaps soak it in water to make it more slippery. And if it is made of cotton or other organic cordage, you don't want to soak it cause all it would do is swell, just would have to do the best you could to separate and untangle the stuff.Course if it is damaged, and you want to redeem at least some of the twine, then you have more to do. You would have repair work also.

But untangling a tangled mess of twine is a time consuming job, isn't it.

Well, how about your life or mine? How much of our lives is like a tangled ball of twine? One thing you can do to help yourself get untangled is soak yourself in the word of God. And if that isn't enough, perhaps you need to take yourself apart piece by piece and slowly unravel yourself by self analysis thru the Word of God. And if there is lots of damage in your life, you have a bigger job because then there is repair work to do.

Well, if you are the ball of tangled twine, you need help, don't you? And who better than Jesus to do the job? Put Jesus into the problem, into the equation, and He will show you not only what to do but how to do it. You do need to soak yourself in the Word of God, but you also need to apply specific things and those things needed will be revealed to you by Jesus.

There are lots of people with damage in their lives-due to wrong ideas, beliefs that are untrue, abuse, ignorance, loss of somebody or something significant, and many other factors. Well, who does the Word of God say is our healer? Jesus of course! He gives us believers guidance thru the Holy Spirit who is the spirit of Truth. He gives us comfort thru the Comforter.

He gives us grace because of our faith. He gives us everything we need and being the one who does that, well He can untangle us too.

When we are in the midst of problems, Jesus needs to be put into the equation. We need to ask for His will, His help, His guidance, His strength, His comfort when needed, His patience, His love, His mercy, His peace, and even His joy. And He will give all that besides the directions as to how to solve whatever the problem is or just how to handle the problem, or how to just go thru the problem till it is resolved. No problem is too big for Jesus, no problem is too hard for Jesus. No problem is impossible for Jesus. Believe Him, believe in Him, and obey out of faith that He can love you, lead you, guide you, direct you, and take care of the problem. Just remember in all this--He is the untangler.

One last thing to remember-sometimes God does not remove a problem because He wants to use it to fashion you and shape you. Remember Paul had begged God three times for a "thorn in his flesh" to be removed. This thorn was the "the messenger of Satan to buffet me-to keep me from exalting myself."(NAS) So there may be some problems in your life God may never remove, but instead will use them to conform you to the image of His Son. For references see II Cor 2:7 and Rom 8:29. If that turns out to be the case, then praise God for His wisdom and recognize that His grace (as Paul had to recognize) is sufficient for you. May God bless you and give you a great weekend.

Lauren M. Traer's Book, But I'm Not a Bad Person in Stores

Lauren M. Traer, RRT has released her new book, But I'm Not a Bad Person, which details her 20 year battle with physical and mental illness, focusing on eating disorders. Her book stands alone in revealing the deadly correlation between thyroid disease and eating disorders, and is a powerful teaching tool. It provides never-before disclosed insight into the destruction of the mind and body at the hands of these fatal diseases, and the depth of her addiction and obsessive/compulsive behavior.

Her story begins with a childhood diagnosis of Graves' disease. This is very common in women and too often misdiagnosed until the symptoms become quite severe and obvious, as was the case with Traer. Graves disease has been proven to cause mental illness, including anorexia, and is diagnosed by a simple blood test, which too often goes unordered. Traer's case was considered hopeless and terminal after all therapies and hospitalizations failed, and doctors began to refuse to take her on as a new patient.

She reveals how her feelings of shame and self-disgust contributed to her becoming a victim of both date rape and spousal abuse. Her survival has been called a modern-day miracle, and she is devoting her life to promote awareness and clear up misconceptions and stigmas towards eating disorders. She is extremely motivated and driven to market her book because of her own experiences and inappropriate treatment. She has exposed herself to help change and save lives, provide comfort and inspiration, and possibly even find help for herself.

Her story has been featured in many newspaper articles. She has appeared on local and national radio and television programs, and VHS tapes are available. She has contacted the Florida State School System, and also requested endorsement for her proposed program by Governor Bush. She has established contacts with national mental health organizations, magazines, and Christian organizations. She has spoken at two local women's conventions, and to the American Women's Business Association, Retired Nurses of Florida, Parish Nurses Association, and student counseling services at Florida Gulf Coast University. Her book has also been included as a referral for nursing students at Florida Gulf Coast University.

But I'm Not a Bad Person is currently at local bookstores, including Books-A-Million and Christian outlets, through Maggiano and Associates, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Noble.com on the internet. It is also reviewed and featured on The Victory Network on the internet. It has been accepted by Barnes and Noble bookstores nationwide, and will be distributed by Ingram Express. Traer's goal is to mass-market her book to bookstores, churches, and treatment centers.

NOTE: Here at the Trumpet, we support all things that are postive and uplifting. Please review Lauren M. Traer's book at one of the above mentioned locales. Thank you and God Bless.
