President Obama Bailout Plan for Main Street: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

In a speech at the Brookings Institution, the president announced a new bailout plan to spur jobs and the local economies of Main Street, instead of just Wall Street. Obama proposes that the plan will help consumers and small businesses, and expand the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act programs. According to the president, the $200 billion less anticipated costs for the 2008 financial system bailout program for Wall Street should help offset costs in the federal budget; in essence shifting “funds that would have gone to help the banks on Wall Street to help create jobs on Main Street.”
