Death Penalty Phase of Al Qaeda Operative Zacarias Moussaoui

3/7/06 (Alexandria, Virginia). Prosecutor Robert Spencer, in his opening statement to the death penalty phase of Zacarais Moussaoui's trial, says that 3,000 lives could have been spared had he not lied after his arrest a month before the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Moussaoui's defense attorney and his mother believe he is being used as a scapegoat to cover government intelligence blunders.

Statement from Speaker Hastert's Communications Director Regarding Democrat's Efforts to Politicize Disrupted Terrorist Plot

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Ron Bonjean, communications director for Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today issued the following statement:

"Every day is not an election day, but it seems for the Democrats it is. Today our British allies and U.S. intelligence services were able to identify, intercept, and impede a terrorist plot because we have given them the tools to fight this intelligence-driven Global War on Terror. Instead of humble gratitude, the Democratic Leadership suggested that increasing democracy in the Middle East is distracting us from homeland defense.

"This misses the point: the war on terror is a global war. The terrorists arrested today were aiming for our cities and innocent civilians, and we only know that because we had visibility into their planning and plotting. With the PATRIOT Act, FISA courts, and other intelligence programs, we can learn what the terrorists know and where they go, and then we have a chance to disrupt them. But it is those same tools that saved the day today that the Democratic Leadership have repeatedly tried to vote down, thereby weakening America's intelligence efforts and lowering our guard against terrorism.

"America cannot stop terrorists with blinders on. America cannot stop terrorists by simply hoping they won't take transatlantic flights to bring terror, once again, to our cities. We stop terrorists by watching them, following them, listening in on their plans, and then arresting them before they can strike.

"Senate Democrats are also blocking confirmation of the new Department of Justice National Security division chief, a position which was funded by the PATRIOT Act and has received strong bipartisan support from the leaders of the 9-11 Commission. In addition, Democrats have a consistent voting record of underfunding our intelligence community in the 1990s. Instead of partisan political attacks, the Democrats should stop thinking about the November elections and join Republicans who stand vigilant in fighting the Global War on Terror."

Remarks by the President Upon Arrival in Wisconsin

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a transcript of remarks by the president upon arrival in Wisconsin:

Austin Straubel International Airport

Green Bay, Wisconsin

10:54 a.m. CDT

THE PRESIDENT: The recent arrests that our fellow citizens are now learning about are a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation.

I want to thank the government of Tony Blair and officials in the United Kingdom for their good work in busting this plot. I thank the officials in Washington, D.C. and around our country who gather intelligence and who work to protect the American people. The cooperation on this venture was excellent -- cooperation between U.K. and U.S. authorities and officials was solid. And the cooperation amongst agencies within our government was excellent.

This country is safer than it was prior to 9/11. We've taken a lot of measures to protect the American people. But obviously, we're still not completely safe, because there are people that still plot and people who want to harm us for what we believe in. It is a mistake to believe there is no threat to the United States of America. And that is why we have given our officials the tools they need to protect our people.

Travelers are going to be inconvenienced as a result of the steps we've taken. I urge their patience and ask them to be vigilant. The inconvenience is -- occurs because we will take the steps necessary to protect the American people.

Again, I appreciate the close cooperation between our government and the government of the United Kingdom. The American people need to know we live in a dangerous world, but our government will do everything we can to protect our people from those dangers.

Thank you.

Statement of Senator Patrick Leahy on the Foiling of the British Airline Terror Plot

MONTPELIER, Vt., Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement from Sen. Patrick Leahy on the British airline terror plot:

"All of us as Americans are grateful to British authorities for disrupting a plot that endangered the citizens of both our countries. I also commend the FBI professionals and others for their close and expert cooperation in this investigation.

"This episode and the upcoming five-year anniversary of the attacks of 9/11 are reminders that there is little margin for error in countering terrorism. We need to refocus our attention and resources to eliminate the misdirection and mismanagement that too often divert us from the goal of protecting the American people.

"Imagine how different our situation would be today if we had not shifted our elite forces from Afghanistan to Iraq at the critical moment when we were close to finding Osama bin Laden. In the years since then the Iraq war has stretched our military to the breaking point, sapped hundreds of billions of dollars, and preoccupied our attention. The White House has even disbanded the intelligence unit that for years was dedicated to tracking down Osama bin Laden. The diversion to Iraq has only succeeded in creating a new breeding ground for terrorists and in emboldening the rogue states that harbor and supply them. Starting an unnecessary war in Iraq has not made us more secure, but less secure.

"We are at our best when we meet the threat of terrorism not with fear but with facts and determination. Let us set a new direction to counter terrorism on our own terms, with American skill and with American values."

Council on American-Islamic Relations Statement on Alleged Airline Terror Plot

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today issued the following statement at a news conference in Washington, D.C., in response to the arrests of 21 individuals for allegedly plotting to use liquid explosives on passenger flights traveling from the United Kingdom to the United States. (NOTE: CAIR's news conference was taped for later broadcast by C-SPAN.)

In its statement, CAIR said:

"American Muslims have consistently condemned all acts of terrorism, whether carried out by individuals, groups or states. We repudiate anyone or any group that plans or carries out a terrorist act. We welcome early actions by law enforcement authorities against credible threats to the safety of the traveling public.

"The American Muslim community has always been dedicated to the protection of our national security. It is also important that our fellow Americans understand that Muslims are law-abiding citizens who should not be targeted or singled out because of their faith or national origin.

"We have been contacted by federal law enforcement authorities who are taking steps to ensure that there is no backlash against the American Muslim community. We commend them for their pro- active efforts. We ask local Muslim communities to step up security measures at mosques and other Islamic institutions. We also urge local law enforcement agencies to coordinate with Muslim leaders to deter hate crimes.

"It is important, based on past counterterrorism cases that did not lead to terror convictions, that we withhold judgment until all the facts of this case come to light. We also ask public officials and commentators to avoid using stereotypical and ill-defined terminology when referring to this and similar cases.

"As the largest American Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, it is our religious and civic duty to reach out to all Americans to reaffirm Islam's teachings of peace, justice and tolerance for all."

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 32 offices, chapters and affiliates nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

Hamid Hayat Convicted of Terrorism Charges

SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A federal jury convicted Hamid Hayat, 23, of Lodi, Calif. with one count of providing material support or resources to terrorists and three counts of making false statements to the FBI in matters related to international/domestic terrorism, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California McGregor W. Scott and FBI Special Agent in Charge Drew Parenti announced today.

This case is the product of an extensive/joint investigation by the FBI as well as the Sacramento Joint Terrorism Task Force - - which is comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement.

According to Assistant United States Attorney S. Robert Tice- Raskin and Laura L. Ferris, and Department of Justice Trial Attorney David B. Deitch, who prosecuted the case, the jury found that defendant Hamid Hayat provided himself as "material support" between March 2003 and June 2005 by attending a jihadi training camp, and subsequently attempted to conceal his training from the FBI, knowing and intending that his training would ultimately be used to prepare for and carry out acts of terrorism in the United States. Hamid Hayat was also convicted of making false statements to the FBI on June 3 and June 4, 2005 when he falsely stated that he had never attended a jihadi camp, that he had never received weapons or other types of jihadi training, and that he had never received training to fight against the United States.

"Today's verdict makes clear that we can prevent acts of terrorism by winning convictions against those who would plot to commit violence against our citizenry in the name of an extremist cause," said U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott. "The jury is to be commended for their dedication throughout this lengthy trial. My deepest thanks to the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Bureau of Immigration Customs Enforcement for their professionalism and hard work."

FBI SAC Drew Parenti stated, "The FBI and the member agencies comprising the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) appreciate the time and effort shown by the jury in reviewing the evidence and witness testimony in this trial. As the government has contended throughout this investigation, when information concerning terrorists activities is received it must be reviewed and pursued aggressively, within the confines of the law, which is what took place in this investigation. The FBI is pleased the jury understood the evidence and the seriousness of the charges against Hamid Hayat, and found him guilty as charged."

Evidence at trial established that, during a period of months between October 2003 and November 2004, defendant Hamid Hayat attended a jihadi training camp in Pakistan and ultimately returned to the United States with the intent to wage jihad upon receipt of orders.

According to evidence adduced at trial, between March 2003 and August 2003, defendant Hamid Hayat, during the course of numerous recorded conversations with a cooperating witness, pledged his belief in violent jihad, pledged to go to a jihadi training camp and indicated that he, in fact, was going to jihadi training.

On May 30, 2005, while enroute back to the United States from Pakistan, defendant Hamid Hayat's plane was diverted to Narita, Japan. When questioned by the FBI on that day, defendant Hamid Hayat concealed the fact that he had received jihadi training, and that he was returning to the United States for the purpose of waging jihad. Hamid Hayat was thereafter permitted to return to the United States.
On June 3 and 4, 2005, when questioned by the FBI in Lodi and Sacramento, California, defendant Hamid Hayat again attempted to conceal the fact that he had received jihadi training, and that he had returned to the United States for the purpose of waging jihad.

On June 4, 2005, after advisement and waiver of his rights, defendant Hamid Hayat admitted during three separate interviews, including two videotaped interviews, that he attended a jihadi training camp in Pakistan in 2000 for a few days. Hayat admitted that he attended a camp in 2003/2004 located in the vicinity of Balakot, Pakistan, and actively trained at this camp for approximately three to six months. Hayat further admitted that he was trained for jihad, that he came to the United States for jihad, and that he was prepared to wage jihad upon the receipt of orders.

As part of the evidence at trial, a government expert regarding Pakistani extremist groups opined that jihadi training camps, in fact, existed and operated in various parts of Pakistan from 2000 to 2005, and specifically opined that a series of camps were located in the Balakot area of Pakistan, including a well known Jaish-e-Muhammed camp in Balakot. In addition, a Department of Defense imagery expert opined that he was "confident" that certain images of buildings and a location in the vicinity of Balakot were, in fact, a militant training camp.

The government further introduced a series of incriminating writings seized from Hamid Hayat on the day of his arrest on June 5, 2005 and the Hayat home during execution of a federal search warrant on June 7, 2005.

Agents seized an Arabic "jihadi supplication" from Hamid Hayat's wallet stated, "Oh Allah we place you at their throats and we seek refuge in you from their evils." According to a government expert in Islamic law, the supplication was of the type that would be carried by a warrior/jihadi who perceived himself as being engaged in war for God against an enemy.

Agents also seized a "jihadi scrapbook" bearing the name of Hamid Hayat. The scrapbook included a series of newspaper articles (including articles from well-known extremist groups in Pakistan) that extolled the military efforts of the Taliban, expressed support for Osama Bin Laden and other known terrorists, and espoused virulent anti-American sentiments.

Agents also recovered a June, 2000 magazine from Jaish-e- Muhammed, a well known extemist group in Pakistan. The magazine included various articles supportive of violent jihad, such as an editorial by Masood Azhar arguing that Pakistani men should focus on jihad rather than sports, profiles of jihadi martyrs who lost their lives in the disputed Kashmir region, and an article about the mujahideen movement in the Philippines which suggested that it was the religious and moral responsibility of Islam to help out mujahideen wherever they are fighting.

Agents also recovered two Urdu books by Jaish-e-Muhammed leader Masood Azhar entitled the Virtues of Jihad (2000) and Windows from the Prison (2003). In these books Azhar, among other things, extolled the concept of violent jihad, suggested that violent jihad was the duty of every Muslim and a central element of Islam, and suggested that violent jihad should be waged around the world including countries like the United States. These themes were repeated in HAMID HAYAT's statements to the cooperating witness.

The maximum penalty for all charges against defendant Hamid Hayat is 39 years of imprisonment. Sentencing for defendant Hamid Hayat is set for July 14, 2006 before United States Judge Garland E. Burrell.

Earlier today, a separate federal jury announced that it was unable to reach a verdict with respect to Umer Hayat, 48, also of Lodi, with two counts of making false statements to the FBI. A status conference for the Umer Hayat case is set for May 5, 2006.

Statement of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales Regarding British Airline Terror Plot

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement from Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on the British airline terror plot:

"Let me begin by repeating and emphasizing something that Secretary Chertoff said. And that is we have a very serious investigation that is proceeding in the United Kingdom. And we want to be very, very careful as we try to inform and educate the American public about saying too much that might in any way jeopardize that investigation or a subsequent prosecution.

"And so we ask for your patience in asking and receiving information. But we'll try to be as forthcoming as we can, as quickly as we can. But, again, we don't want to do anything that may in any way jeopardize or adversely affect an investigation or prosecution in the United Kingdom or perhaps even in this country.

"Now, since 9/11, the threat reporting has consistently shown that there is a vicious and determined enemy that is intent on harming American lives. And every day it's September 12th for those of us tasked with protecting America, and we know that our counterparts abroad feel the same way.

"Today's announcement is a true testament to the hundreds of hours of patient work by British authorities. Their vigilance has led to the unraveling of this deadly plot by terror cells based in the U.K., a plot, as Mike indicated, designed to detonate bombs aboard commercial airliners en route to the United States, potentially killing hundreds of innocent people.

"On behalf of the American people, I want to thank the British authorities for their tremendous efforts to disrupt this deadly scheme.

"Although the law enforcement investigation is ongoing, I want to update you on the preliminary information that we have available at this time. We will, as Secretary Chertoff indicated, continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.

"The perpetrators who were arrested overnight were extremists who had gone beyond just stating a desire to kill Americans. Their plotting turned to action as they took several steps to carry out their deadly plan. Their focus appears to have been on the use of liquid explosives. We are still assessing the links to Al Qaida, however, a plot of this sophistication is suggestive of Al Qaida tactics, as Secretary Chertoff mentioned.

"From the beginning of the investigation, we have been in constant contact with our counterparts in the U.K. We share the same philosophy of prevention, a sense of urgency to dismantle these terrorist cells before an attack occurs.

"The FBI and other law enforcement intelligence agencies have worked closely with our colleagues at MI5 on all aspects of this case, and they have aggressively pursued every domestic lead that has arisen from the intelligence that led to these arrests.

"As Secretary Chertoff said, while there is currently no indication of any plotting within the United States, the federal government is taking immediate steps to increase security measures in the aviation sector.

"The FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the entire intelligence community will continue to aggressively pursue every lead and shred of intelligence that arises from this or any other terrorism case. This has been our practice since 9/11, and today is no different from any other day in that sense.

"The American people should know that everything that can be done to protect them is being done by law enforcement and intelligence professionals around the country and abroad.

"We ask that people continue on with their normal lives, but with some extra patience as the professionals do their jobs, especially at the airports around the country.

"As we have stated many times before, we are a nation at war. Today's actions are a stark reminder that the threat is real and that we have a deadly enemy who still wakes every morning thinking of new ways to kill innocent men, women and children, and dreams every night about wrecking the destruction on freedom- loving countries.

"Our enemies should know that we are just as equally intent on stopping them. We will continue to work around the clock with our colleagues around the world to dismantle their operations one person at a time."

Atlanta Man Indicted For Material Support of Terrorism

ATLANTA, April 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A federal grand jury in Atlanta has indicted Syed Haris Ahmed, 21, of Atlanta, on a charge of material support of terrorism.

"This indictment is the first public result of an extensive and ongoing terrorism investigation led by the Atlanta Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF)," said United States Attorney David E. Nahmias. "The agents of the JTTF have worked with great diligence and skill in developing the evidence that was presented to the grand jury. This is the first international terrorism charge filed in Georgia. The charge against Mr. Ahmed is serious and involves national security, and it will be prosecuted with that in mind."

The indictment was returned under seal on March 23, 2006. The only allegations or facts about the case that are currently in the public record are those in the indictment. The body of the indictment reads as follows:

From on or before March 2005 until the date of this indictment, in the Northern District of Georgia and elsewhere, the defendant, Syed Haris Ahmed, a person within the jurisdiction of the United States, did knowingly and unlawfully provide, attempt to provide, and conspire with others known and unknown to provide material support and resources, and to conceal and disguise the nature, location, source, and ownership of material support and resources, knowing and intending that the material support and resources were to be used in preparation for and for carrying out a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 956 (conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim, or injure persons or damage property in a foreign country) and 2332b (acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries), all in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2339A(a).

"During the course of the investigation, the JTTF worked diligently with many different government agencies both here and abroad," Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Atlanta Office Gregory Jones said. "These partnerships along with a variety of investigative techniques enabled the FBI to effectively disrupt and prevent any potential threats whether here in the United States or internationally. The Atlanta JTTF, which is composed of local, state and Federal investigators, has been fully engaged over the past several months with this terrorism investigation. Let me assure you that at no time were we aware of an immediate danger to the Atlanta area or the United States."
According to United States Attorney Nahmias and documents presented in court:

Ahmed was arrested on the afternoon of March 23, after the indictment was returned. Later that day, he spoke by telephone with United States Magistrate Judge Joel M. Feldman, who advised him of his rights and determined he was eligible for appointed counsel. Magistrate Judge Feldman then appointed an experienced criminal defense lawyer, John R. (Jack) Martin, to represent Ahmed. On March 24, after meeting with his counsel, Ahmed signed a voluntary, written waiver of his right to an initial appearance and arraignment, including his right to a bond hearing; that waiver was filed with the court. The waiver was extended, in writing and with the advice of his counsel, on March 31 and April 7; each waiver was filed with the court. On April 13, counsel for the Government and for Ahmed met with Judge Feldman to request that the initial appearance and arraignment be scheduled for April 19. On April 19, Ahmed appeared before Judge Feldman and entered a plea of not guilty. Judge Feldman ordered Ahmed to be detained pending trial. Judge Feldman also entered an order declaring the case to be complex for speedy trial and discovery purposes, and the case was assigned to United States District Judge Clarence Cooper for trial. No other proceedings are currently scheduled.

Since his arrest, Ahmed has been detained in facilities regularly used by the United States Marshals Service to detain pre-trial federal defendants. From the day after his arrest, his location has been known to his lawyer and his family, who have been able to visit with him. The location is not being made public because of the nature of the case.

All of the documents and proceedings in this case were placed under seal by order of the court, at the joint request of the Government and Ahmed. The court unsealed the documents earlier today at the request of the Government, based upon the public reporting of Ahmed's arrest and developments in the ongoing investigation.

The charge in the indictment carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

This case is being investigated by agents of the Atlanta Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), which is led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Atlanta Division.

United States Attorney David Nahmias and Assistant United States Attorneys Robert McBurney and Katherine Monahan are prosecuting the case.

Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government's burden to prove a defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

Taliban Claims Responsibility for Downed American Helicopter

6-29-05. A U.S. military helicopter, an MH-47 carrying 17 service members, crashed in a rugged area along the Afghan-Pakistani border. The Taliban, who ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, has claimed responsibility. At this time, no bodies or injured parties have been recovered. U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Greg Champion stated that "this is a tragic event for all of us, and our hearts and prayers go out to the families, loved ones and service members still fighting in the area."

New World Trade Center Tower Design Revealed to Public

6-29-05 (New York). The new building replacing the World Trade Center Towers, dubbed the "Freedom Tower" by New York Governor George Pataki, will be 1,776 feet high like the old towers; however, it will be more slender and occupy less space on the northern end of the 16 acres where the previous 110-story Twin Tours stood. It will still be the world's tallest building and symbolic of the year of American independence. A spire will emit light, intended to echo the Statue of Liberty's torch. The architect, David Childs, redesigned the building after the New York Police Department reaise security concerns. The September 11 memorial, Reflecting Absence, will occupy 4.5 acres and feature two reflecting pools where the towers stood.

The Cycle of Violence Has No End as We Fuel Terrorism by Attacking Islam

by Travis Patriot

The cycle of violence has no end as we fuel Terrorism by Attacking the Muslim religion. Just yesterday (13Aug2003) a US helicopter in Iraq, in the middle of one of the most religious areas, tried to remove a religious symbol – inciting a riot which resulted in US troops shooting into a crowd! And right after that I saw footage of US troops conducting raids & looking a lot like they were enjoying themselves as witnessed by their excitement.

Now to much of the world US troops terrifying civilians & having fun looks evil but then there is the footage of a US soldier giving the “DEVIL SIGN” in which the hand is held fist closed with two fingers held up like horns. I’m sure this will play out well in the Middle-East as those who already call us devils now have proof! Self admission is the strongest proof known to man & this looks like proof to much of the world.

And as far as the US appearance of respecting the Muslim Religion & bringing stability & democracy to Iraq, why in the hell would US troops attack the highest religious symbol in the area? That flag (symbolizing their religion) was placed on the highest point for a reason & the US troops tried to take it down for a reason. The only reason that I can see would be to start a riot! Why else would you do something like attack a religious symbol?

Now innocent people are dead & we look more & more like the devil! Soldiers are trained to kill them all & let God sort them out & SOLDIERS are NOT POLICE! It looks to me like the soldiers are now seeing the Iraqi people as the enemy & resentment has apparently built to a point where US troops & Iraqis see one another as the enemy! Some returning from the war say that the enemy are just a small number of diehards & that the Iraqi people like them but I fear that this is reminiscent of Viet-Nam in which some were friends by day & VC by night!

The Cycle of Violence has NO END! Free Art T-shirts available for a limited time for only $13.99. I have no profit in these shirts. They are high quality Hanes Beefy Tees with quality printing designed to last & not cheap screen printing!

Fueling Radical Islamic Terrorism & Creating the Perceived Enemy

by Travis Patriot

The religious fanatics on all sides want to see a great epic battle between good & evil. Unfortunately, they are both doing the will of evil with their lust for violence & death but they may get their way because the global war on terror is fueling radical Islam & building the perceived enemy (Al Qaeda) & its non existent but growing army.

How does it grow? It grows when small fanatical groups everywhere have one common enemy (the US) which allows them to form into a formidable army. An army & enemy that the leaders of nations everywhere can claim to be fighting in the name of fighting terrorism. A free ticket for them to do as they wish.

The Big Picture:

• Iraq now unsafe & heading toward Islamic fundamentalist control & a possible Viet Nam as well.

• Weapons of Mass Destruction, formerly in Iraq, now gone! Likely in the hands of terrorists because everything looted as a result of the invasion was sold for money in order for people to survive after their nation was blown apart!

• Now we have a new problem: The weapons of Mass Destruction are missing due to the invasion as I pointed out earlier & that is a new problem! The invasion may have resulted in unintended consequence of war like resulting in the weapons of mass destruction going to terrorists! Now what do we do? Even radio active material from the hospitals & no telling what else was looted & sold to terrorists! And we know that there were likely weapons of mass destruction because Saddam likely got them from us as a result of, the feds supporting Iraq against Iran years ago when Saddam was Bush’s Father’s good friend!

• We also fueled the need for others to acquire weapons of mass destruction by attacking Iraq but not N. Korea! North Korea's nukes made the difference. http://www.cafeshops.com/nounjustwar

• Our brave Service Men & Women are sitting ducks & they are coming back in body bags or crippled (physically & psychologically) from this illegal invasion & occupation while the feds cut back & close down VA hospitals. Also, in Iraq all non Muslim outsiders are now being targeted - even those trying to help.

• After calling for the US to leave & after numerous raids of homes & shootings of innocent Iraqis, the Iraqi people are now rioting. “The Mighty US can read a license plate from space but why can they turn the electricity back on?” the Iraqis ask in 120 degree weather. By the way, Saddam used to punish the Iraqis by turning off their electricity! After a protest, there was what I refer to as the Boston Massacre in Iraq when troops shot into a crowd earlier. Soldiers are not police & the Iraqi people are now AFRAID of US TROOPS! They do not want us there & their anger & resentment is building, thus fueling radicalism & terrorism! This is pushing Iraq toward a theocracy of radical Muslims & the US toward Imperialism to prevent it! We simply can not fight terrorism with an army because those tactics make more terrorists than they kill!http://www.cafeshops.com/CantFightTerror

• Hunt for Saddam – These "Elvis sightings" are resulting in heavy handed tactics by trigger happy & scared as hell US troops put into a bad situation unnecessarily (without an imminent threat to the US) & this is fueling terrorism. People will only put up with such (military) tactics for so long before they say, “Give Me Liberty or Give me Death!” - just as our Founding Fathers did! And military threats as deterrence only works against those who want to LIVE and NOT those willing to Die! The end result may be war crime charges against our brave men & women. Soldiers are not police and misusing our national defense as an offense to police the world will eventually result in bad things happening - like war crime charges against our troops! “I want You – To Police the World…..GLOBO COP!” Just say no to this career politician’s idea. http://www.cafeshops.com/GloboCop

• Afghanistan – Al Qaeda still operating & growing. US occupation & operations still fueling terrorism & bringing fresh recruits for the enemy.

• Philippines - Islamic rebels bombed several buildings like US Hotels (might as well call them Al Qaeda) because they are linked to Al Qaeda by a common enemy (the US) & a common motivation - defending their religion from the US as it invades Muslim Holy Lands everywhere!

• Car Bomb in Jordan (supported US invasion)

• Al Qaeda is spreading out across the globe & our nation’s occupation of half the globe (120 our of 190) countries (many Muslim) as well as our invasions of many more, fuels radicalism & gives them more recruits.

• The federal war on drugs & terror are both un-winnable because they make more terrorists & drug dealers than they get rid of! They are self defeating because as soon as a leader is taken out, another moves up to take his place. This happens both with terrorists & drug dealers because "federalism" itself is what motivates these people to move up! Federalists attacking their religion by invading holy lands & supporting Israel motivates the Muslim radicals. And the lucrative profits resulting from prohibition motivate the drug dealers to sell drugs! As long as the violation of the Muslim religion occurs with the federal war on terror – there will be more people motivated to take the leaders place in the terror organization & as long as federal prohibition makes drugs illegal & profitable – there will be drug dealers.

• Federalism is also funding & building enemies to fight in Colombia as well as much of central & South America. The Federal prohibition of drugs takes drugs out of the drug stores & then criminals & terrorists make money (fund raise) by supplying the demand for drugs in order to collect the lucrative profits resulting as a direct result of federal prohibition. Then federal war on terror comes along & has an enemy to fight – getting us involved in the decades old Colombian civil war. Just as the federalists like the DEA & many others desire!

If you go to another neighborhood & interfere in their internal matters – making enemies abroad, common sense should tell you that you had better lock your door when you get home because trouble is on the way! The same thing is happening today when we Americans let our politicians try to rule the world miss-using our brave military to enforce their political agendas.

Bottom line: America is less safe today & we are heading toward a catastrophe as we fuel Radical Islam.

Long ago, someone once said that if tyranny ever comes to America, it will likely be under the guise of protecting the people from a foreign enemy. And so the Patriot Act & other things have come to be. And with technology advancing & the federal war on terror never ending like the federal drug war, 1984 the book is becoming reality.

Once we functioned as a United States with the police powers with the States & a limited federal government. The Founders Fathers feared that the States would be ruled by the Federal government (if not limited) & that is exactly what we have today. Although the federal government is limited, it does as it pleases. It rules the States by cutting off the federal money necessary for their budgets & the people by taxing them directly – just like a king with his armed tax collectors. Moreover, the federal king or dictator now declares war himself in DIRECT VIOLATION of the Constitution – THE SUPREME LAW OF THIS LAND!

Yes my friends, we have felons running our great nation & leading us to HELL on earth with eternal death & violence! Read “The fears of the Anti-Federalist have become reality” at http://www.etherzone.com

Read “Drug Crazy” & see how we got into this un-winnable mess & how we can get out of it! http://www.drugcrazy.com

Another U.S. Soldier Dies in Iraq

6-22-03. Since President George Bush declared an end to the War in Iraq on May 1, there have been nineteen more U.S. troop deaths by hostile actions, the most recent one dying from a rocket-propelled grenade attack in Khan Azad. In addition, thirty-seven have died in nonhostile ways. Senators are urging Bush to clarify that U.S. occupation in Iraq is on a "five-year plan." About 150,000 troops are stationed in Iraq.

According to Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware, a possible presidential contender and ranking Democrat on foreign relations, "it's time the president leveled with the American people, because no foreign policy can be sustained without the informed consent of the American people. They have not been informed of that fact."

There have been continued raids by U.S. troops to capture the militants responsible for recent attacks against soldiers. An interim Iraqi administration is expected to be established in the next six weeks.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell Speaks to U.N. Security Council on Iraqi Weapons Violations

(Feb 5, 2003). Colin Powell, U.S. Secretary of State, addressed the U.N. Security Council about key evidence that the U.S. has that Iraq has violated U.N. resolutions. Powell says that no effort has been made to disarm and that this is further evidence of their unwillingess to follow resolutions about weapons of mass destruction. Powell played tapes of discussions between Iraqi officials about upcoming inspections. The Bush Administration is expected to seek a new U.N. resolution that will declare Iraq in violation of Securitry Council Resolution 1441, set a deadline for compliance, and give the blessing for military action.

Colin Powell's media presentation included video, slides, and audiotapes from intelligence intercepts. Key points include: intercepted conversations about evidence concealment and ways to coach scientists on answering questions, satellite photos of material being moved from Iraqi sites before U.N. inspector visits, travel details in and out of Iraq by al Qaeda operatives.

George Tenet, CIA Directors, was along for the political ride as a personal endorsement of the Secretary of State's argument.

Two Car Bombs Explode Near Madrid Soccer Stadium

Two car bombs exploded May 1 hours before a crowd of 75,000 were to enter the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid Spain. 17 people have been injured. Real Madrid and Barcelona were scheduled to play in the European Champions League semi-finals before the incident occurred. Basque separatist group ETA warned of the terrorist attack moments prior to the blasts. ETA has killed more than 800 people since 1968 in its drive for an independent state in Basque areas of northern Spain and south-western France.

FBI Makes Al Qaeda Arrests in Oregon and Michigan

(10-4-02) The FBI charged five United States citizens and one foreigner with belonging to a terrorist cell. According to John Ashcroft, U.S. Attorney General, "we've neutralized a suspected terrorist cell within our borders . . . Agents of the Portland and Detroit Joint Terrorism Task Forces arrested suspected terrorist cell members charged with engaging in a conspiracy to join al Qaeda and to join Taliban forces fighting against the United States and allied soldiers in Afghanistan." The six individuals according to court documents are Jeffrey Leon Battle, Patrice Lumumba Ford, Ahmed Ibrahim Bilal, Muhammad Ibrahim Bilal, Habis Abdullah Al-Saoub, and October Martinique Lewis.

President Bush Wants Swift United Nations Action Against Iraq

President Bush has set a timetable for U.S. intervention with the Iraqi situation involving Sadaam Hussein's noncompliant behavior. He says, "there will be deadlines within the resolution. We're talking days and weeks, not months and years." Bush is doubtful that Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein will comply with the United States' demands. Hussein has had 11 years and has not complied.

Terror Alert on Florida's I-75, Possible Terror Plot in Miami Foiled

A terror alert was issued on September 13, 2002 in Florida. Law-enforcement stopped two vehicles on a section of I-75 called "Alligator Alley" in South Florida. The suspects who are suspected of plotting a terror attack in Miami were detained. A dog sniffed the cars for bombs. The alert was issued after a Georgia woman overheard a conversation in a restaurant among three men who indicated a plan to attack Miami on Friday September 13.

Five Shot Dead at Random in Washington DC By High-Powered Rifle

(10-3-02) Police believe a high-powered rifle was used to shoot five people in the suburbs of Maryland. The murders appear unrelated. The killer is described as a skilled shooter and the single shots to each victim were from a distance. The tip line number is 240-777-2600. There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people involved. The suspect's vehicle is white, box-type, possibly an Isuzu or Mitsubishi, with black lettering on the side and a damaged rear lift. A profile of the killer has not been developed yet.

Sniper Shootings in Maryland

(10-9-02) A tarot card and shell casing were found at the scene of the last sniper shooting of a school-age boy. Police chief Charles Moose criticized the media for broadcasting the leak of the discovery, because there are a lot of things that can hurt the investigation. Six people have been murdered and two critically injured. The card, inscribed with "Dear Policeman: I am God," may or may not be related to the crime spree. It was found near the Bowie middle school where the 13-year old was shot on Monday, October 7. The card may have been left by a prankster.

The 13-year old middle school student who was shot Monday after his aunt dropped him off at school remains in critical but stable condition at the Children's National Medical Center.

Forensics evidence links the eight shootings that have happened over the last week. Each victim was hit once by a rifle from a long distance.

Al-Jazeera Documentary Accounts 9-11 Plot

In a documentary aired by Al-Jazeera, an Arabic TV news network, al Qaeda terrorists, Ramzi Binalshibh and Khalid Shaikh Mohammad, give an account of their plan to attack the U.S. on September 11 and the actions of some of the main terrorist hijackers in their final days before their suicide attacks on the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. Binalshibh is considered the "coordinator of the September 11 operation," and Mohammad, on the U.S. "most wanted" terrorist list, is believed to be one of the primary planners

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell Talks with U.N. About Iraq Resolution

Colin Powell, U.S. Secretary of State, talked with key leaders about a United Nations resolution that calls on Iraq to submit to weapons inspections or risk grave consequences. A few Security Council members have expressed reservations about military action. Britain is backing the United States. Russia, France, and China have the power to veto the resolution.

Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Richard Holbrooke, says "if Russia goes along, the U.S. can get this resolution but if Russia say no, we won't get it." According to British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, "above all, what President Bush was saying is that the U.N., the international community, has to give Saddam Hussein a clear choice - which is compliance with the resolutions, an end to weapons of mass destruction or the enforcement of the will of the international community by other means." A resolution by the Security Council must have nine votes in favor and no veto from any of its five permanent members.

According to Powell, "there has to be deadlines this time. In the absence of deadlines, the Iraqis will string us out, will try to negotiate away or simply ignore the resolution. Saddam Hussein has long made an unholy alliance with terrorists. What is not arguable is that he is in violation of international law." Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said, "I don't think that the case for pre-emptive attack has been made conclusively yet. That doesn't mean it can't be."

Accused Shoe Bomber Acted Alone

Richard Reid, the accused shoe bomber, who allegedly attempted to blow up an airliner over the Atlantic Ocean last year says he acted alone, angered by the treatment of Muslims in Israel and the United States' role in the Middle East.

A British citizen and convert to Islam, Reid received al Qaeda training in Afghanistan. Sources contradict Reid by saying he had accomplices who helped him plan the terror attack and that he could not have constructed the explosives found in his shoes alone.

Passengers and crew fought and restrained Reid after he allegedly tried to ignite a fuse protruding from his shoe. Reid is charged with attempted murder and attempted destruction of an aircraft. According to him "the idea of putting a device in his shoes came to him after he noticed that Israeli security did not check the inside of his shoes."

U.S. Special Ops Forces In Afghanistan Are Ordered to Shave

U.S. troops guarding Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, in an effort to blend in, have been wearing beards and local attire. They have been ordered to shave and don regular uniforms after a special operations commander, Major General Geoff Lambert, saw photos of them.

Israeli Forces Began Withdrawal from Palestinian Territories

On March 11, Israeli forces began withdrawal from two dozen Palestinian villages, however, they have also entered two more West Bank towns‹Bir Zeit and Daharyeh. U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell is still scheduled to arrive in the war-torn Middle East.

Israel Defense Forces say the operations are part of their mission to smoke out terrorists and weapons. This followed an Israeli pullback from 24 West Bank villages on March 10. U.S. President Bush is pleased with these actions, however, it is still not consistent with his demand for a full withdrawal. The Israel Defense Forces say that they are in full control of the Jenin refugee camp, that had been involved in intense fighting for over a week. 24 Israeli soliders and 150 Palestinians were killed.

Eight people were killed and 14 wounded earlier in the week when a morning terrorist attack near Haifa occurred involving a suicide bomber wearing a belt of explosives aboard an Israeli commuter bus. The 18-year-old niece of Israel's ambassador to the United Nations was among those people killed.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to Meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat

Colin Powell is scheduled to travel to Jerusalem to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat, who has been under siege for two weeks in Ramallah. The U.N. Security Council supports Powell's diplomatic efforts to end Middle East violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

According to Ariel Sharon, "For us, it is a war of survival. One must understand that that is our right and responsibility to defend the lives of our citizens."

Al Qaeda E-mail Warns of Attack

An Arabic-language daily newspaper in London, England, al Hayat, has published a statement that it claims hails from the al Qaeda terrorist group. It warns of new terrorist tasks and claims Osama bin Laden is still alive and well. According to the newspaper, the statement says, "Osama bin Laden is safe and in good health and preparing the next steps of his battle." The statement goes on to say that 18 United States troops had been killed after being taken prisoner by Taliban forces during the Afghanistan fighting.

Unusual Coating Found on Anthrax Spores

Scientists have discovered a new chemical in the coating on the anthrax mailed to journalists and politicians back in the fall. The discovery was surprising, however, they are familiar with the unnamed chemical. The coating on the anthrax included silica which helped the anthrax spores not to clump. The purity, fineness and potency made it highly unlikely that the sender of the anthrax mailings made and treated the spores in a makeshift setting. Government officials caution that this does not mean a scientist was involved. Five people died of inhalation anthrax and 13 were treated for cutaneous anthrax infections. Four letters were recovered and one letter involving the death of a Florida photo editor was never found. The letters were sent to two Senate offices, the New York Post, and NBC News.

What is Terrorism?

According to experts, terrorism is more than brutal, unthinking violence. There is always a strategy behind terrorist attacks and terrorist actions; it is not random, spontaneous, nor blind. Terrorism comes in many forms: bombings, shootings, hijackings, assasinations, and deliberate use of violence against civilians. Terrorism is aimed at an audience and are often deliberately spectacular with the intent to rattle and influence, with the hopes that the psychological impact of violence or the threat of will effect political change.

The U.S. State Department says terrorism is "premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience."

There are four key elements of terrorism. It is premeditated, political, aimed at civilians, and carried out by subnational groups, not by the army of a country.

The word "terrorism" was derived during Frances' Reign of Terror in 1793 to 1794.

Terrorism is not a new phenomenon. It has been around for ages. The oldest terrorists were holy warriors back as early as the first-century. Modern forms of terrorism date back to the late nineteenth century. In 1914, the terrorist assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinant by Serbian extremists helped trigger World War I. Custom-made-for-TV terrorism dates back to the July 22, 1968 first terrorist hijacking of a commerical airplane by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Jerusalem Terror Bomb Kills Two

On March 21, a suicide bomber set off a massive bomb in downtown Jerusalem, near King George Street, killing at least two people and injuring more than 50. The bomber was a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.

Car Bomb Outside U.S. Embassy in Peru Kills Nine

On March 20, a car bomb exploded about 330 feet from the entrance to the U.S. Embassy in Lima, Peru, killing at least nine people and injuring at least 25: two embassy security guards, three police officers, including explosive experts, and a boy who was skating. The explosion that left large holes in the pavement, damaged a bank and broke the windows of neighboring buildings. The embassy was not damaged. This occurred only a few days before President Bush plans to visit Peru during a four-day tour of Latin America.

World Trade Center Searchers Find Remains of More Victims

The only city policewoman killed in the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, Officer Moira Smith, 38, remains were recovered at Ground Zero on March 20, along with two court officers, Tom Jurgens, 26, and Mitchel Wallace, 34, and two Port Authority police officers. Her name tag and shield were nearby. She had been taking witness statements when she voluntarily rushed to help out in response to the terrorist attacks. Her voice was heard over a police radio as she directed people from the burning buildings. A news photographer captured her guiding a bleeding man to safety.

She was the second policewoman killed in the line of duty in the history of the New York Police Department. Her partner, Officer Robert Fazio, also died in the attack. Twenty-three city police officers were killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. In February, police Capt. Kathy Mazza's remains were found-she was among the 37 Port Authority officers killed and the only other female law enforcement who was killed.

The week of March 17, the city medical examiner identified the remains of 21 people, including one flight attendant who had been aboard American Airlines Flight 11. Two firefighters, Matthew Barnes, 37, who had been awarded the department's Honor Legion Medal for his role in a 1999 rescue of infant twins from a high-rise apartment fire, and John McAvoy, 47, have been positively identified. 343 Fire Department members have been lost from September 11 attack-160 have been identified.

U.S. Considers Plans to Charge Al Qaeda and Taliban Suspects Held

Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Defense Secretary, is set to release plans for military commissions to consider charges against al Qaeda and Taliban suspects held by the United States. The process will resemble a military court martial: it will be open, the accused will be presumed innocent, defendants must be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, they will have a right to an attorney and to see any evidence against them, and the panel will have to be unanimous to impose the death penalty. Differences include the admission of hearsay and secondhand evidence and appeals going to a military review board instead of the federal courts. Representative Conyers, a Democrat from Michigan and ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, worries that the commission will not be impartial. He states, "they want to get easier convictions. When you have a military tribunal, there are very few people who don't get convicted in them just as a matter of course." This could set theprecedence for captured U.S. troops in the future being subjected to kangaroo courts.

The proceedings will be open to journalists and the public; however, no photos, video or audio recordings will be allowed. Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, may be the locale for the commisions because of high security and it is outside the jurisdiction of the United States criminal court system.

Stories About the World Trade Center Tragedy

My name is Star Qurashi, I am a 19 year-old college student and unfortunately an eye witness of the most devastating scene in modern America. I go to Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) at Chamber Street in lower Manhattan, just four blocks north of the World Trade Center. I went to school late that day, arrived at 8:15. I stood with another Afghan friend of mine to pick up coffee, on Chamber and West Broadway where the World Trade Center was laying.

I was heading to a post office just across the World Trade Center to mail something. Exactly at 8:40 AM I heard an airplane flying very low above my head, I had never imagined what would happen in two seconds. I heard a mind-blowing blast, I never wanted to believe that it crashed into the twin towers. I couldn’t, it was IMPOSSIBLE. When I tilted my head to see, my body just went numb. I thought it was an accident for I couldn't believe ANYONE can do such an un-humanly act. I dropped my bag in front of a friend and ran in fright to get a disposable camera. My body was still frozen as I was taking pictures of the first tower. Three people jumped before my eyes one by one, helpless, knowing they were going to die as soon as they hit the ground. Right that moment the second tower blew up right on my face and on all the others’ that were standing in shock around me, the gigantic ball of fire still heats my skin when ever I recall. The only thing I could do at that moment was break in tears.

The terrible awful site couldn’t be beared by many, people fainted around me, I myself almost collapsed on the floor. The whole scene was a nightmare, well at least I wished, so I at some point would soon wake up. But it wasn’t. The roaring sound of the collapsing towers made everyone run up north for their life. I am one of the most fortunate ones along with many others to get away without injuries. The thunderous noise is still echoing in my ears. I had never imagined such a horrifying view of the Two Most Beautiful Buildings in the world, that I adored and visited at least two times a week.

They have taken away a part of my world, my daily routine has been changed, my way of thinking has been changed, the number of people I used to bump into every morning has been reduced. Everything is gone. Everything is ruined. When I look up now, I don’t see sky-scrapers anymore, I only see sky. The world seems empty. The beauty of Manhattan has been destroyed. The bitter truth tears my heart inside. I wish they would soon restore the towers, only then would my heart be restored. I wish the lost lives could be restored. But I can only pray day and night to help families heal the wounds caused by the loss of their loved ones. At this point we should all join hands together and pray to God to help us all overcome this devastating tragedy and the loss of many lives.

I wish that whom ever planned this scheme, dies a thousand deaths a thousand times worst. The masterminded evil behind this scheme will surely be hunted down and punished for his deeds, in this world and in the world after. Every person whether they’re American or of any other nationality or of any religion is grieving over this devastation. We are all identified as human beings before we are known as Christians or Muslims or American and Afghans or Palestinians. Some people constantly link these cowardly acts to Muslims. Everyone should know that whom ever did this is NOT a Muslim nor a Christian. What ever took place is wrong in every way in every religion. Every religion is based on morals, and the devil who planned this is not a human hearted creature. God is watcher over all doers and the savage beast who did this will be doomed eternal hell. My prayers are with every American family and all who has lost someone in this calamity. May God help us heal very soon.

My Opinion on The Taliban

Talibans are a bunch of lunatics running around, not knowing what they’re doing. They are like little amateur kids who are told what to do. Osama Bin Laden used or I should say bribed Taliban with the few million dollars he had to shelter himself from the United States when he bombed the American Embassies in Africa. And they didn’t even realize that. Just because he
was an Arab, and repeatedly said Jihad, Taliban mistook him for a holy man and helped him destroy their own status in the world with their own hands.

I don’t think Taliban in any way had any hand in the devastating attack on America. First of all they are too unwise to think something like that, second they don’t have enough guts to commit suicide and kill thousands and risk the lives of thousands and third but not least they don’t even know how to drive a car, how on earth would they know how to fly an airplane. Basically Taliban are still living in the 12th Century whom are constantly being abused by the Pakistanis and some Arabs. At this moment they don’t even know where Bin Laden is at, that’s how stupid they are! And if they do know where he is, they should hand him over right away, for the sake of their own country. Most or half of the Taliban are Pakistanis themselves,
when one says that 90 percent of Afghanistan is controlled by the Taliban, it naturally means by ‘pakistan’.

There is no such government as Taliban, and Taliban should admit it, period. If they are so confident about their rules and regulations, they should set up an election. But if their laws are going to be nonsense as they are, they can bet zero votes from the educated ones.

Best Wishes
