IS "SHAQ'S BIG CHALLENGE" REALLY A CHALLENGE?

By Makeisha Lee, Health and Nutrition Consultant

(July 20, 2007 - BlackNews.com) We have been hearing lots of buzz about the obesity crisis in North America. We have so many organizations in their respective practices and fields of expertise befuddled about the best approach to overcoming this persistent issue. Yet despite all the buzzing going on in little conference rooms with their little power point presentations and millions of facts, findings, projections, it is all tantamount to plain old rhetoric. It’s been all talk and no show.

For the African American community it is quite pleasing to see that there are in fact a growing number of individuals from our community that recognize the need for personal responsibility in health matters. They have decided to step up, take action and pool resources together to once and for all improve the lives of our community; not by talking, but by doing. We have had challenges such as the BET Challenge, the Bally’s Fitness Challenge, the 50 Million Pound Challenge, and now Shaq's Big Challenge.

With 80% of North America’s population being overweight, 33% or (700 million obese) and 20 million obese children, Shaq has decided to make this a family affair as well as it should be. Shaq should be lauded and applauded for his big heart to step up and do what the Government and even some parent’s should have already been doing. By bringing back the importance of physical activity in the forefront of the children and family’s lives. By using his celebrity for the good and making a plea to the powers that be for the need of physical activity back in the schools to help address obesity and counteract its associated disease.

Trying to get this to materialize has in fact been nothing less than a challenge. In fact one of Shaq’s representatives’s stated that it has been like ice skating uphill. There are several reasons why this is the case and an even greater number of reasons why it will continue to be a constant challenge in addressing Obesity. We must all understand that this challenge and all the other challenges before must join together to make for a more cohesive unit. By making it as much about losing weight as it is of learning good nutrition combined with physical fitness. It can be likened to a cord that one would use to tie something together. Most cords will have two strands to tie in. but if you would pull hard enough on either one, it would give way, snap in half or break. However if you take that same cord and add an extra strand for a total of three and tie them together, suddenly the Cord is much stronger and cannot be easily broken.

This 3 strand cord is our anchor in this toxic, unforgiving, uncaring world ridden by sickness and disease. We don’t stand a chance against the pull and struggle of life amidst stormy, uncertain times. For emphasis, what is the 3-strand cord that will protect us from Obesity and its related illnesses?

1) Physical fitness
2) Proper nutrition
3) Total body cleansing

We always hear about the first two, time and time again. We will in fact get involved with implementing some level of physical activity in our lives, even if we don’t stick to it. Then there a small number of us that do the best that we can with what we have to “eat healthy”, but the sad majority of us don’t really have a clue what proper nutrition consist of, but we try anyway. Admittedly some may disagree that all three are absolutely necessary, but the sad truth of the matter is that without all three strands in place, weight loss and good health will be everyone’s BIG challenge.

As aforementioned, the other two of physical fitness and eating right have always been the advice for years to counteract obesity. However common sense would dictate that something else is missing for us in this day in time. More needs to be done to affect a change.

Progress will be at a snail’s pace and minimal at best. Time is running out, we no longer can afford not to use every tool that works.

Make no mistake about it we are living in a toxic and overweight culture as never before and obesity cannot fully be addressed without first addressing the toxicity that exists. If we are going to hit it we need to nail it - for good!

There is a revolutionary technology of total body cleansing that has been medically and scientifically proven to be safe and effective at removing impurities from the body. At the same time it causes the body to shed unwanted fat to achieve a healthier, leaner you. Once the body has been cleansed of harmful impurities, there is no need for the body to manufacture more fat to protect itself.

Shaq’s challenge is yet another well needed call for action, as he and his representative’s puts it, “enough talking and start rocking”. Then too with just the single addition of regular nutritional cleansing, without a doubt is the missing link we have all been waiting for to give us the extra edge. If you just think about it, what good is the best exercise plan, best plan for eating right, best multi-vitamin pill if you don’t have optimal brain chemistry to make you want to make a lifestyle change and stick to it? The goal is to get you feeling so good before during and after that you can not imagine living any other way. This is what all of our bodies are begging us for.

Nutritional cleansing acts as a catalyst to give people, young and old the raw materials within their bodies to reach their full health potential during their pursuit of shedding unwanted pounds for life.

Shaq’s weight loss challenge and all other challenges can easily be achieved and sustained when you utilize the three strand cord. We all can learn a lesson from Shaq’s initiative and let our young catch a shaq attack instead of being on their way to a heart attack. So let us band together, stand together and really save some lives now and for future offspring. No more “fighting against obesity” and trying to do so without any real weaponry at that. The more you resist something, the more it will persist. Let’s just do what makes sense - consistently.

Together if we practice the 3 strand cord approach it will no longer be a challenge that we must fight, we will simply go around that mountain, through that mountain, over that mountain or better yet looking up to see that mountain is no longer there!
