Internet Casino Gets Flossed by Paris Hilton - GoldenPalace.com Buys Hilton's Used Dental Floss

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A piece of floss once used by Paris Hilton, smudged with pink lipstick and found in the trash outside Paris Hilton's Hollywood home, sold Tuesday for an impressive $1000 US to online Casino, GoldenPalace.com.

The sellers of the floss, HollywoodStarTrash.com, made headlines worldwide and created an online frenzy with a video on YouTube, showing the process of how they acquired Paris Hilton's trash. The trash was put up for auction and the floss was snatched up for $1000 by the same company that purchased interesting items such as William Shatner's kidney stone and Britney Spears' pregnancy test, to name a few.

With the money they raise with Hilton's trash, they plan to expand their inventory of Star Trash, and produce a full length documentary.

They recently trashed John Travolta and plan to sell his collection as well. The collection includes 12 empty packets of very expensive beef and a fork in a collectible box. They hope the buzz will get them their final goal -- a spot on a major talk show.

Richard Rowe, CEO for GoldenPalace.com hinted that there was interest in the Travolta trash. "We're all fans of Travolta, and who knows, if there is some beef in the packets, we could eat it and then use Paris Hilton's thousand dollar floss," he jokingly said.

America’s Addiction to Prison Should be the Focus in Paris Hilton’s Case

Hilton Should Become a Poster Child for the Ailing Criminal Justice System

(6/19/07) The world is focused on Paris Hilton’s incarceration. The circus even triggered a campaign to remove Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca from office for granting Hilton an early release.

Sheriff Baca is not the culprit; the real perpetrator is the malfunctioning criminal justice system. Thanks to overzealous prosecutors and the failed war on drugs, jails and prisons are filled dangerously beyond capacity. Some jails – especially in California – are releasing inmates after serving only ten percent of their time.

Minorities and the poor have suffered the wrath of an unjust system for years. Recently our prison-addicted society has inconvenienced a few wealthy white American’s like Hilton and the Duke La Crosse players. Their celebrity status should be used to draw attention to broader issues like the fact that the Dept. of Justice reported that over 7 million people were on probation, in jail or prison, or on parole at yearend 2005.

Rather than complaining about Hilton’s release, activists would accomplish more by protesting the biased laws that result in long sentences for petty drug criminals and cause such overcrowding in prisons that officials are forced to release inmates early.  In 2000 the mean sentence imposed on federal prisoners for violent felonies was 63.0 months as opposed to 75.6 months for drug felonies.* The fact that murders, child molesters, rapists, and other violent criminals can get less time than non-violent drug offenders is alarming and a lot more newsworthy than Hilton’s ordeal.

Augmenting the prison population is not the only accomplishment the drug war can claim.  Since the enactment of mandatory minimum sentencing for drug users, the Federal Bureau of Prisons budget has increased by 1,954% from $220 million in 1986 to more than $4.3 billion in 2001.* That same year, the California’s prison expenditure was $4.2 billion, yet residents still live in violent, drug-infested neighborhoods.

Instead of questioning why Sheriff Boca sent the confused hotel heiress home, citizens should wonder why he, according to the Los Angeles Times, is the highest-paid local elected official in the nation.   Find out why the state built 21 new prisons, and only one new university from 1984 to 1996.  Or, ask California officials if they think increasing prison expenditures 30% while decreasing higher education spending by 18% from 1987 to 1995 had anything to do with California ranking the fourth dumbest state in Morgan Quitno’s annual state education survey.

The media could evolve beyond stories on Hilton’s prison stay and feature some of the talent wasted due to our prison-addicted society. Take for example, Kemba Smith, the Hampton student sentenced to 24 ½ years on conspiracy charges. Since her pardon in 2000 by President Clinton, Smith graduated from Virginia Union University with plans to attend law school; was awarded a Soros Justice Postgraduate Fellowship; and is the founder of the Kemba Smith Foundation educating youth about injustices in the criminal justice system. How many Kemba Smith’s are working for the average .93 cents per hour paid to prisoners?

The web sites of the November Coalition and Families Against Mandatory Minimums feature compelling stories about victims of the war on drugs, including an article about twin brothers Lawrence and Lamont Garrison. They were arrested just months after their graduation from Howard University when the owner of an auto body shop was apprehended for playing a major role in a drug operation. To reduce his sentence, the shop owner implicated the brothers in the cocaine conspiracy. Despite the fact that there was no evidence of drugs found on the Garrisons or in their house, instead of attending law school as planned, Lamont and Lawrence are in a federal penitentiary serving 19 and 15 years respectively.  The shop owner was sentenced to three (3) years.

Americans have become so desensitized to locking citizens behind bars, many people don’t realize how barbaric it is to call for a troubled young lady to remain in jail instead of receiving treatment. Perhaps that’s why the US has the highest incarceration rate in the world and the reason Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker would fight for Genarlow Wilson to serve his 10-year sentence for having consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17.

I have a dream that one day this nation will look beyond race and class and recognize that our criminal justice system is terminally ill. It suffers from swollen prosecutors, severely infected police departments, a paralyzed judicial system, and a fractured legislature passing cancerous laws.

Paris Hilton needs counseling; but our criminal justice system needs a transplant.  The public needs to wake up from their celebrity-induced coma and focus on the real issues.

High Profile Drunk Driving Arrests Deserve Interlocks

DALLAS, June 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by Glynn R. Birch, MADD National President:

Paris Hilton and the number of many other high profile celebrities and sports figures committing drunk driving offenses are alarming and this problem needs to stop. Hilton has not been responsible in using her celebrity during this time. She did not acknowledge how much she drank before getting behind the wheel, she drove on a suspended drivers' license and then appealed to the Governor for leniency in her sentence for that offense and continues to not take accountability for her actions. We continue to believe that she should accept full responsibility for her actions, and her conduct during this time should be much more responsible given the vast young audience watching her every move.

After house arrest, she should receive an ignition interlock. We know that interlocks help stop the revolving door on repeat offenses, so why doesn't every state in America mandate them for all convicted drunk drivers? We believe many courts across the country are too lenient on those who drive on suspended licenses due to drunk driving. In addition to jail and fines and other sanctions, MADD would like to see at least a one-year interlock provision for those who drive on suspended licenses. Armed with new data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showing drunk driving is higher than it has been in 15 years, MADD's National Board is meeting with Congressional leaders this week asking for increased focus on drunk driving across the nation and support for MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving. The Campaign calls for ignition interlocks on all convicted drunk driver vehicles, the exploration of new technologies to prevent a vehicle from being driven by someone who is drunk, increased enforcement and public support.

MADD is calling on Hollywood and all pro sports teams to clean up their acts and for leaders in those industries to send a strong statement: drunk driving will not be tolerated. MADD will pursue meetings with these leaders to share information about MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving and to ask for support. Meantime, let's stop the public displays of drunk driving (and, of course, all drunk driving) that not only sends an irresponsible and potentially deadly message, but have become a bad reality show that needs to have the plug pulled.

Additionally, if high-profile celebrities and athletes can afford alternative transportation, MADD wants to know why aren't they using it? It should not be a rite of passage in Hollywood to have a drunk driving arrest, but based on recent media accounts, MADD's beginning to wonder if this is not the case.

Drunk driving kills nearly 14,000 people annually and injures countless others. There are 1.4 million arrests for drunk driving every year. MADD wants every person convicted of drunk driving to be sent a clear message: this will not be tolerated.

We, as a nation, cannot afford to go backwards. We expect our families, friends and loved ones to be safe on the roadways, but until the nation's leaders pass interlocks for all convicted drunk drivers and commit to stepped up enforcement, America will continue to see drunk driving deaths. We are also wondering why the 1.4 million drunk driving arrests every year in this country do not receive the same kind of outrage and media attention they deserve. If all of the passion for this issue by the public and the media were focused on solutions, such as mandating ignition interlocks for all convicted drunk drivers, our currently rising drunk driving deaths would be a thing of the past because the public wouldn't stand for it.

New Animated Game, 'The Prison Life: Paris,' Gives Players a Glimpse of What Life Could be Like for the Young Hilton Heiress

GSN's Mini-Game Features Animated Paris Hilton Along with Dog 'Clinkerbell' Stamping Vanity Car License Plates in the Big House

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- At the beginning of Paris Hilton's 23-day prison sentence, GSN.com unveils "The Prison Life: Paris," an online game that gives players a sneak-peek of the heiress's potential new job behind bars. The announcement was made today by John P. Roberts, GSN's Senior Vice President of Digital Media & Interactive Entertainment.

"'The Prison Life: Paris' is a fast-paced original mini-game showcasing an international news story in a lighthearted manner," said Roberts, the originator of the game. "It really is the ultimate pop-culture game with very addictive qualities."

Orange is the new pink in GSN's latest online game that features an animated Hilton clad in stiletto heels, designer glasses and an orange jumpsuit. In the game, players position Hilton between levers that "stamp" the blank California vanity license plates as they pass on a conveyor belt. In tribute to Hilton's larger-than-life celebrity world, plates include such phrases as PRTYGRL, ABUVLAW, DUI4ME, DRV2FST and PRVTCEL.

A matronly guard stands watch as Hilton stamps her way through each level with more and more plates, increased conveyor belt speed and additional levers for added difficulty. Players must perfectly align the plates and be careful not to squish her designer dog "Clinkerbell," wearing fashionable black and white prison garb. Too many rejected plates or flattened pooches and it's lights out for Paris.

"The Prison Life: Paris" is part of GSN.com's suite of mini-games that can be easily sent through email, embedded in blogs and linked on websites. Previous original GSN mini-games include "Rosie vs. Trump," "The Astronaut Moonstalker," "Kim Jong-Il: Missile Maniac," and "So You Think You Can Drive, Mel?" These games plus many more are available to play and share on GSN.com.

GSN is the entertainment industry leader in multi-platform interactive game programs. What is a Celebutante?

A celebrity and debutant

Celebrity Inspired Pet Popularity

by Bill Knell

(2/19/05) Paris Hilton has her beloved Chihuahua, Tinkerbell. Nicole Richie can’t get enough of her Pomeranian, Foxy Cleopatra. Hilary Duff prefers a Pom, while Britney Spears now has a household full of Chi’s. It seems that a celebrity inspired popularity contest has erupted between these two toy dog breeds. But before you get inspired by Paris or Nicole to adopt a Pom or Chi, take a step back and consider how each breed may fit into your lifestyle.

TV ads run by Taco Bell, films like Legally Blond and Tinkerbell’s appearances with Paris Hilton on magazine covers and in The Simple Life have made the public take a second look at Chihuahuas and their potential as pets. The same can be said of Pomeranians. Poms have had noticeable parts in major films like Chasing Papi, Enemy Of The State and Double Take. As with Paris Hilton and her pet, Nicole Richie’s Pom has frequently seen with her in episodes of The Simple Life 3 television series.

Paris once told reporters that she was inspired to purchase Tinkerbell after seeing Legally Blond. While the film may have inspired her to take that step, the two have become inseparable. That’s because Chihuahuas make extremely good pets. They are said to be the only dog breed that actually prefers the company of humans to other dogs. Besides being the world’s smallest and longest lived dog breed, Chihuahuas are generally easy to care for and travel well. They make good family pets and get along well with children.

When it comes to Pomeranians, they have terrific personalities, generally fall on the more affordable side of toy dog prices and some can be very tiny. Poms are extremely loyal to their owners and easy to train. Some major downsides are that they require a good deal of grooming, love to bark (a lot!) and can be aggressive toward other animals and over inquisitive children. Those inspired by their fabulous look and celebrity exposure should keep these facts in mind before adopting one. If you decide to adopt a Pom, do so because they fit your lifestyle and you’ve decided that properly caring for one is something you can do. Celebrity inspired pet adoptions do not always work out very well.

As Good As It Gets flickered to life on movie screens in 1995 and turned into an instant hit. While Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding Jr. may have acted in the film, many would argue that it was the canine character of Verdell who was the star. In several interviews, Greg Kinnear admitted that he and the rest of the cast often felt upstaged by the feisty Brussels Griffon named Jill who played the part of Verdell. Proof of the popularity of the Verdell character came in the form of huge numbers of people looking to adopt Brussels Griffon puppies after seeing the film.

The first thing that many starry eyed film goers discovered in their search for a Verdell clone was that finding one would not be easy. Most Brussels Griffons weigh six to twelve pounds fully grown, while Jill was unusually small. There are never huge numbers of available Griffon puppies and the prices can be very steep. Originally bred for the purpose of hunting rats in horse stables, this breed is aggressive and has been known to attack and even kill smaller dogs and animals. These facts immediately discouraged many would be ‘Verdell’ owners and may have been for the best in the long run. Like the Pomeranian, the Brussels Griffon is a purebred toy dog breed that just isn’t for everyone.

If, like Paris Hilton, you happen to be inspired to adopt a certain breed of dog by what you see in a movie, be sure that breed is the right one for you, your household and your neighborhood. A Great Dane would do no better in a small apartment then a tiny Chihuahua would running free over acres of land where it could be attacked by wild animals or predatory birds. Barky dogs like Poms and Toy Poodles are as unlikely to be welcomed into quiet neighborhoods as Yorkshire Terriers are into households they don’t like having their shoes, furniture and linoleum floors chewed to bits.

Take some time to discover the pros and cons of any breed of dog before you adopt. All domesticated animals require some level of care and attention. Some will need more then others. Before you take on the responsibility of adopting any dog or puppy, be sure you are willing to provide the attention, care and support they need. That includes having the financial ability to pay for Veterinarian visits, pet sitters or kenneling and grooming when necessary. When you find what seems to be the perfect pet, make sure you‘re willing to be the perfect pet owner!
