Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Endorses Edwards For President
Milwaukee - On the heels of North Carolina Senator John Edwards' strong performance at the Journal Communications/WTMJ presidential candidate debate Sunday evening, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the state's largest newspaper, endorsed Edwards for president in Monday's newspaper.

"For Democrats, then, the challenge is to nominate the man who can take his party's common vision for the nation and convince voters that it offers the right course for America. That man, in our judgment, is Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina. We urge Democrats to vote for him in Tuesday's primary," writes the Journal Sentinel editorial board.

The endorsement editorial cites Edwards compelling message of uniting the "two Americas," and his "increasing emphasis on the nation's jobless recovery, the disappearance of manufacturing jobs and the 'outsourcing' of factory and service jobs." In addition, the Journal-Sentinel applauds Edwards' positive, optimistic campaign for offering a vision instead of attacks on his fellow candidates.

"[H]is optimistic campaign, free of attacks on his Democratic rivals, suggests something important about his character: here is someone who seems to believe that the power of persuasion doesn't have to include excoriation and the politics of personal destruction," the editorial board adds.

"If Democrats are serious about winning in November, they have two choices at this point. John Kerry would make a strong run at Bush and might defeat him. But we think John Edwards, with his combination of message and method, may have the stronger legs in this long distance race," concludes the endorsement.

Edwards has also been endorsed by The Capital Times newspaper in Madison.

Edwards Ad 'Believe' Hits Wisconsin Today
MILWAUKEE, WI: The Edwards for President campaign in Wisconsin Monday announced that it will begin running the 30-second television ad "Believe," which highlights Senator John Edwards' (D-NC) uplifting vision to make America work for all of us and his commitment to running a positive, optimistic campaign.

"I believe in the politics of what's possible, and for me that's what this election is about," Edwards says in "Believe."

The following is the script of "Believe":

"I believe in the politics of what's possible, and for me that's what this election is about. See, I think that this is about something much bigger than these petty snipings that are going on. It's about a new, positive, uplifting vision for America - that's what we are about as Democrats. It's what we should always be about.

"We're the party that believes in bringing people together, not tearing them apart. Together, you and I are going to change America, because you believe in the same thing."
