Alhaji Aliu Mahama at his office in Accra, Ghana
On April 11 - 18 2004, there will be a trade delegation to Ghana. It is open to those who are interested in looking at Ghana as a potential venue to do business. In the March 2004 edition of The New African magazines featured Ghana in an excellent cover story showing that Ghana is focusing on business and foreign investment. The ruling party of Ghana, the NPP, faces elections at the end of this year. The article highlighted the accomplishments that have been made by the NPP and how Ghana is now open for business.
There are many in the African American community that have visited Ghana and seen the historical sites but have not taken advantage of the business opportunities that exist in Ghana. Ghana is rich in natural resources, i.e., cocoa, gold, diamonds, salt, palm oil, shea nuts, textiles, sorghum and timber.
Akbar Muhammad a resident of Ghana for 14 years is taking a delegation to look at the potential of Ghana especially the northern area. There are also opportunities in the expanding real estate market, particularly in modular homes.
The trip will include not only meetings with government officials and business people in the private sector but also a stop at some of the historical spots while in Ghana.
