(6/8/04). London, UK - "The Dreamer" is the title of Tamyra Gray's new CD, and it's everything you dreamed of. For those who forgot who Tamrya is: She was the fourth runner-up during the first season of "American Idol". This was way before Ruben Studdard and Fantasia were even in the picture. So technically, she's the first African-American star that got a record deal from being an American Idol contestant. Why is her CD coming out so late, you might ask? Well, Tamrya has been parlaying her "Idol" stint into acting gigs starring on shows such as Boston Public and Half & Half. But she's ready to launch her music career now, and it's already climbing the charts. Tamrya is the first artist on "Idol" creator Simon Fuller's new label, 19 Recordings based in London. Gray's pleasing vocals and co-writing skills propel this engaging debut. Segueing from R&B to pop, jazz and rock, the album showcases the many moods of the former Miss Atlanta. The CD is currently available in all local music stores including Amazon.com and CDnow.com Her official web site is: AFRICAN AMERICAN DESIGNER TO CONDUCT WEEKEND HAT MAKING WORKSHOPS IN CALIFORNIA - Plans to expand workshops to other cities across the U.S.
