Survival of the "Getting Fit" Healthy Diet and Exercise Marathon for Life

Mission Statement

The purpose of this positive, life-changing event is to promote a healthier lifestyles campaign through proper diet and exercise. Obesity is an ever-growing problem. Diet fad shortcuts are the norm and produce short-lived results that, in the end, add extra pounds on and can harm your health. The only way to properly maintain a healthier body weight is through a healthy diet and exercise. Anorexic and bulimic tendencies and diet pills are strongly discouraged. Participants should strive to lose one to two pounds a week, in order to have a better chance of keeping the weight off for years and years to come.

How to Enter

Open to individuals 18 years or older who have a desire to lose unhealthy excess weight through a proper, gradual weigt loss diet and exercise
program. Contest officially starts on Sunday, July 1, 2001.

  • Winners will be chosen by "Viewer's Choice" polls and points gained by meeting contest requirements.
  • A special "Weight Loss Achievement" award will be chosen by DVC Weight Loss Buddies and will be based on the individual who worked the hardest and had the most significant results.

DVC Weight Buddies encourages individual or team participation by church groups, neighborhood and community groups, clubs and organizations, sororities, fraternities, athletic clubs, and weight loss support groups. The journey towards a more healthier lifestyle is far more rewarding when you have people to cheer you on and do the hard work with you.

  • Qualifying Round - 12 competitors will be chosen
    Deadline: Saturday, June 30, 2001
Submit via e-email in Word (.doc ) or text (.txt) formats:
