National Essay Contest - What is the Meaning of Christmas?

(11/3/06 - Valparaiso/Niceville, FL). Remember the good ol' days when everything didn't have to be politically correct. Now, there's a debate about everything. How do you feel about the reluctance to use "Merry Christmas" and replace it with "Happy Holidays?" Do you think Christmas has become too commercialized? What about celebration of other religious observances like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Ramadan? What does Christmas mean to you?

DverCITY.com is sponsoring a national contest for the holiday season. Prizes will be gift certificates that can be redeemed on the DverCITY web site just in time for holiday shopping. The essay contest is to open to all citizens of the United States and gift certificates will only be awarded to individuals with a U.S. address. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: 5 to 11, 12 to 16, 17 and up. A winning essay is creative, original, thought-provoking, and addresses the issues above. Elementary age entries are only required to write about what Christmas means to them or their most fondest holiday memories.

The deadline for entries is Saturday, December 2, 2006. Winners will be announced Monday, December 11, 2006. Submit entries by e-mail or mail to: DverCITY, P.O. Box 0733, Niceville, FL 32588. Include your name, e-mail address, and U.S. state of residence.
